S4 Finance ("we", "the app") is a personal budgeting and subscription-tracking tool. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how it's protected.
Information we collect
Account information: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (if you sign up with email/password), or basic profile info (name, email, avatar) if you sign in with Google.
Financial data you enter: expenses, subscriptions, budgets, and any notes or categories you add. This data is yours — we only store what you type in.
How we use your information
To operate your account: authenticate you, show your own data back to you, and keep it isolated from other users.
To send you transactional emails, such as a password reset link, when you request one.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon (in the EU). The application itself runs on Vercel's infrastructure.
Third-party services
Google — used only if you choose "Sign in with Google", to verify your identity.
Resend — used to deliver password-reset emails.
Frankfurter (exchange rate API) — used to show live currency conversion; no personal data is sent to it.
Data security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
Every record (expense, subscription, budget) is scoped to your account — other users cannot see or access your data.
Your rights
You can delete individual records at any time from within the app. If you'd like your entire account and all associated data permanently deleted, contact us using the details below.
